Our Approach

As a member of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program and the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI), we follow “best practices” in our industry. As part of this “best practices” we incorporate design/build into our construction and renovation projects whenever applicable.

There are many benefits of the design/build approach, with the primary benefit to you, the owner, being the simplicity of having one party responsible for both the development of the design and the execution of the construction phase of the project. This approach combines the world of architecture and construction under one roof. As a design/build contractor, we are looking to see if we are a fit for you on this project. A fit would mean that we would be hired by you to design the project, develop the scope with your participation and build the project to your approved needs, wants and target budget. We would serve as a single point of contact for any questions and concerns that you may have throughout the course of the project. Of course, it would also mean that you are comfortable with our company solving your problems with the services we provide.

There are clients who have already engaged an architect prior to our involvement. Our first step after discussing your project with you would be to meet with the architect to discuss our approach, with the goal of being able to work together on your project.

steveMattIn addition to the many benefits of the design/build process, working with Beaton Construction offers many other benefits that often go overlooked by other contractors. Beaton Construction is the first, and to date, the only contractor in the State with both LEED certification and NARI Green Certified Professional certification. Beaton Construction is also the first to build a Certified Passive House in Massachusetts. This background provides us with the knowledge base to design and construct projects which not only improve indoor air quality, energy efficiency and reduce impact on the environment, but also aids in designing well built, sustainable structures.

Each of our projects begin with an energy audit of the entire home which allows us to identify areas where improvements can be made to improve energy efficiency of the home. We reuse and recycle all of our deconstruction material and maintain a safe level of indoor air quality during demolition by depressurizing and filtering indoor air. Beaton Construction also incorporates the use of sustainably harvested materials which contain low levels of volatile organic compounds which can have a significant impact on occupant health.
