A typical RES audit consists of infrared imaging, blower door testing, visual inspection, review of utility bills and a written report. The goal of our audits is to educate homeowners on how they can save money on utility bills. We sit down with the homeowner and review utility bills, discuss living habits within the dwelling and explain ways to reduce energy usage in the home. We educate homeowners on improvements they can make to their home to improve building performance and offer performance enhancement services through our remodeling division of Beaton Construction.
Unlike visual inspections offered by utility companies and other "energy auditors", our building diagnostics provide tangible evidence of how homeowners can reduce energy use at home. We study each home as a dynamic system and not only address the individual anomalies in building performance but also analyze the dynamic effect of those issues as a whole. Our years of construction and engineering experience coupled with our use of the best available technology makes us the leader in building performance analysis.
Energy audits identify areas in homes where energy losses are occurring. They aim to increase the comfort of the home, reduce energy consumption, and identify potential health and safety concerns.
An audit will look at movements of heat, air, and moisture through buildings.
Based on energy cost projections, an early investment in energy loss detection will translate to significant savings in future energy bills.
- Energy Audit:
Our traditional energy audit includes a comprehensive thermographic infrared building scan. Infrared technology allows RES to identify areas of inadequate insulation and weather sealing along with air leaks throughout the building envelope that would otherwise go undetected through visual inspection alone. A blower door is used to supplement infrared imaging in detecting and calculating the size of air leaks in the building envelope. In addition, a visual inspection is performed to identify construction flaws in the structure. Finally, a written report is generated which outlines the findings of the field investigations and suggests improvements that can be made to improve building performance.
- Energy Audit +:
This service includes the full energy audit package plus in-depth analyses of utility usage and overall appliance condition. Through the use of a watt meter, RES can determine the efficiency of some appliances and determine their replacement payback period.
- Healthy Home + Energy Audit:
We also offer customized "greening your home" consulting services which provide homeowners with information on how to improve the health of their home and the health of the environment. With this service, we analyze the overall indoor environmental quality of your home, your day-to-day activities and products around your home to offer suggestions on how you can begin living a greener lifestyle.
In addition to energy audits, RES uses infrared imaging to locate the origins of moisture problems in a structure. Infrared technology is an invaluable tool in identifying moisture problems in areas that are typically difficult to locate without invasive demolition to a problem area. RES has saved homeowners thousands of dollars in demolition and repair by finding the location of water infiltration without having to lift a hammer!
Character is doing what's right when nobody is looking.
